The Rutland Regional Planning Commission (RRPC) is an accomplished and award-winning regional planning and economic development organization with a talented staff and supportive Board of Commissioners, serving 27 Rutland Region towns. Regional Planning Commissions are political subdivisions of the State of Vermont, created by member municipalities, and serve as the go-to resource for towns linking municipal affairs and state government.
The RRPC is seeking an energetic and outgoing planner to join our professional team. The full-time position will be responsible for supporting our economic and workforce development planning programs. Duties may include managing a regional workforce development program and coordinating the Rutland Region Workforce Investment Board; conducting project identification and management for the West Central Economic Development District; providing needs assessments, project management, and technical assistance for the Municipal Technical Assistance Program; and managing brownfields funding and assessments for the Rutland Region Brownfields Reuse Program. Other duties may include facilitating public meetings, coordinating boards or committees, and grant writing. The position will support an update to the Rutland Regional Plan. Candidates must be well-organized initiative-takers that can work both independently and collaboratively with excellent communication, interpersonal, and time-management skills.
A degree and experience in community and/or economic development, project management, planning, or a related field is required. A master’s degree or AICP certification is preferred. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, ArcGIS, Microsoft Office, and other planning programs or tools are a plus. Position requires a reliable vehicle and attendance at night meetings, when necessary. The RRPC offers an outstanding benefits package as well as a collaborative and flexible work environment. Starting salary is $50,000+ per year depending upon education, experience, and skills.
